Podcast episode
What I loved/learnt?
I loved the examples used to demonstrate how pursuing what interests you the most, can help you grow into the biggest version of yourself. And how directly competing with those around you can limit your abilities to flourish.
They acknowledged comparison is inevitable. Which I appreciated. And referenced a marketing term “you have to be 10 times better or different”. Which seems to fuel the comparison fire. But they were able to fit it together with a new perspective of comparison. By making it an internal exercise where you take stock of all your abilities. And “score” what you are best at relative to the sum of all your abilities.
Taking full advantage of your strengths can be what makes you different to those around you. Focusing on how you can grow and develop your strengths, helps to free you from making comparisons with other. As you will no longer be doing the exact same thing and competing directly with everyone else.
Why listen?
If you struggle to believe in your own vision or think of yourself as great. Or if you don’t feel you aren’t being challenged or learning as much as you need to excel. This podcast episode can help shed light on how the environment you’re in could be impacting your perceptions.
The show has great analogies that describe the impact our environments have on our perception of our abilities and achievements.

What I loved/learnt?
Though the topic is creativity. I felt there was an underlaying message that each of us, as individuals, has something to offer.
Though we are mostly focus on the doing part of what we can offer the world. Our life experiences and stories is really what we have to offer. And finding ways to share/express those experiences is vital.
An example used to illustrate the importance of sharing our experiences. Was how people turn to other forms of art/self-expression, when they try to understand feelings and emotions they have never felt before – like love and grief. It was an “oh yeah I do that” moment.
Why listen?
Do you struggle to know where to begin when someone says to follow your passion? Do you focus more on doing what is considered meaningful in the eyes of the world. Rather than what is meaningful to you? This is a good listen, that will give you a different perspective. And help you begin to shift your focus.
It’s a comforting message for you to feel less like you are the only one in the world who is not following their passion. And hopefully give you a gentle nudge to make changes here or there to start heading in the direction of your passion.
Song
What I loved/learnt?
It feels like the soundtrack to watching the sunset on a late summers eve. Or a drive back from a beach day as you reflect on the highlights of the day and the memories made.
Why listen?
If you are a fan of guitar covers. Or song covers in general. In need of a moment to be transported elsewhere as you walk in a park or sit and people watch.
